I just had a chat with Phil (via audio iChat from England). He said something
which I thought "What, then I thought "White" but it was
the word "Work" he was saying all that time. So we then practiced
these 3 words until I can differentiate. Then he said a sentence in his
normal English accent which I didn't get it. But when he said it again
in American accent "You bedder get a job", I understood. He
went to the next sentence which again I didn't understand. Repeating it
in American accent "I bedder go to bed" became immediately recognizable.
Fascinating to note how influenced am I by Joy, my audio therapist's american
accent.

After two months without Phil, for the first time I felt he was there
as my social partner at Natasha CME's dinner party... a virtual guest
:-)

Interesting to note that with the hearing-aid, I couldn't hear the high
frequency tone for the received email messages. And that I can actually
hear it with the CI.

In the last session with Joy my audio-therapist, I couldn't say 'ssss'
long enough to match 'aaaa' but I did this time, thanks to daily breathing
exercises.

I am absolutely thrilled with my new mapping with much thanks to Colleen,
my audiologist. The new mapping sounds clearer, emphasizing 's'. She also
thoughtfully gave me an optional mapping for senseless noisy situations
with smaller dynamic range at IDR 50. It is like being inside a bubble
that muffles the sounds from outside.
